Small Business Success in Michigan; It’s Possible!

Farmington Hills, Mich., May 19, 2011 – The economic downturn has provided plenty of stories about small businesses forced to lay off half of their workforce, cut benefits, or shut down completely. Young, bright, and talented college graduates are leaving our state for more promising opportunities elsewhere. But these facts don’t tell the whole story.

There are small businesses in Metro Detroit that are not simply maintaining their operations, but expanding their businesses and creating new jobs. EPIC Translations, a language service company based in Oakland County, has doubled its workforce in the past year, and just recently moved into a new office suite to accommodate their expanding operations.

“I’m very excited not just about the future of EPIC Translations, but about the great State of Michigan as well” says EPIC Translations’ President, Mostansar Virk. The company was formed in 2005 and has been consistently attracting new clients and increasing its revenue ever since. Based on the success of the past few years, the company decided to take a major step in August of 2009, hiring new project managers, and an Operations Manager, as well as developing a successful internship program. More recently, EPIC Translations hired a Director of Sales in April 2011. The employees that were hired are all extremely qualified college graduates under the age of 25, which should offer some hope to recent graduates that staying in Michigan can be a smart career choice.
